Grenache

Grenache is de Franse naam voor de mediterrane blauwe druif die in Spanje garnacha heet. Het is een gezichtsbepalend ras in de Zuid-Rhône, Provence en Languedoc, waar hij meestal geblend wordt met rassen als syrah en mourvèdre. Grenache kan goed tegen droogte en wind, en levert in zijn favoriete warme terroirs wijnen met veel alcohol. Door zijn dunne schil kan de kleur betrekkelijk licht zijn, maar dat is niet altijd zo. Ook wat betreft intensiteit, structuur en tannine zijn er grote verschillen. Zwoel rood fruit en kruidigheid kenmerken zijn aroma. Net als in Spanje wordt grenache in Frankrijk veel gebruikt voor rosé.
